Again the detectives, Michael and Louie left the pit stop first on the next leg of their trip. They were to fly 5,000 miles to the Seychelles, a change islands in the Indian Ocean. To their surprise, all teams would fly together to the destination since it was remote with limited access. Each team chose the way in which they would spend their time waiting for departure. Each team selected their plane seats each with his/her own strategy (or lack there of) for the selection. When they arrived on the island of Mahe, those teams closest to the front of the plane deplaned first, leaving the others behind and thereby getting a head start to search for a kiosk where they would get their next clue which instructed them to take a helicopter to another island, La Dique. The first three teams got to board the first helicopter which would be one hour ahead of the second three teams. (Here, Michael and Louie lost their lead.)
Upon arrival at LaDique the teams opened the next clue and found it to be a Detour. Turtle Toddle or Ox Trot.
DETOUR: Turtle Toddle- required that a giant 100 year old tortoise would have to be lured, using a banana a distance across a lawn, then each team member would have to carry a large bunch of bananas to the fruit merchant at the harbor about one and a half miles away. Those who chose Ox Trot had to load a cart with coconuts wait for the cart to be hitched to an Ox and then drive the cart to the harbor without losing any coconuts. The decision was theirs.
Upon arrival at the harbor, the next clue was given. Now they were to swim out to and take a boat to waters near island, St. Pierre, where the boat captain would give them their next clue. With each team came their individual challenges, or you might say, frustrations. When each team reached St. Pierre, their boat captain presented them with a Roadblock clue.
The Roadblock required that one member of each team would have to dive into the Indian Ocean and locate the bottles submerged and tied together. Once the bottles were located, one had to be untied and brought to the surface where the team would the work together to assemble a map which would lead them on a path to the next pit stop- Praslin. Father, Steve and daughter, Allie were the first team to retrieve the bottle, assemble the map and follow the directions to Phil at the pit stop. This was their first victory. Phil rewarded them with a reward from 7-Up. They were to have dinner and massages, along with $7000 and all the 7-Up they could drink. Two by two, it seemed, the teams arrived at the pit stop. The cowboys,Jet and Cord even had to return to the boat and retrieve their bottle and map because they had gotten to the pit stop without it and it was a required part of the task .This put them in last place, but to their surprise Phil informed them that this was a non-elimination leg of the race.
