THE AMAZING RACE 16 EPISODE 6

CATHY DRONE ? (France)
Each team waited turn to start off on this leg of the journey. The detectives, Louie and Michael, having won the third leg of the race were the first team to leave for Reims, France- 37 miles away. There they had to locate the Reims gothic cathedral, where they were to find a statue of Joan of Arc. They needed to locate a musician in front of the statue playing a singing saw. Once found, they would receive their next clue. Playing their strategy, they parked their car and walked, making a stop at the office of tourism for directions to the cathedral. This was a mistake- it allowed Steve &Allie, father and daughter, to get ahead of them. In their quest they had solicited directions from someone on the street, thus gaining on the detectives. After the musician finished playing, she gave Steve the next clue which was a bottle cork with the inscription "Leclerc Briant". Again trusting in the locals, they found out that they needed to go to Epernay. They were to lose their lead on this journey since Allie had difficulty reading the map. By the time they reached Epernay, Louie & Michael and brothers, Dan & Jordan, who had caravanned there together successfully. Mean while, the cowboys Jet & Cord, got off to a bad start by going the wrong direction, consequently going to wrong city. This cost them a drop from second to fifth place, at this point.
Once in Epernay and in 1st and 2nd places, the detectives and brothers eagerly opened their clues to find a Roadblock.
The Roadblock: one team member of each team had to rappel over 100-feet down into the aging caverns of the winery. Once there, they searched the caves filled with champagne bottles for one that was specially marked. In a tradition established by Napoleon’s army officers, they celebrated their victory using a saber to slice the cork off the bottle. With success of slicing the cork off of the bottle, the pressure caused the champagne to shoot out ejecting their next clue which read: Taittinger La Marquetterie. They had the clue but now had to figure out what and where this was. It was discovered to be a chateau and vineyard in the nearby village of Pierry.
The trip between Epernay and Pierry was not without difficulties for some of the leading teams. Not the detectives, though. Detectives Louie & Michael arrived at Taittinger La Marquetterie in first place to find a Detou.

The Detour with the choice of Tower or Terra.
In Tower, teams had to use all of the 680 champagne glasses to build a tower 15 levels high with only one glass at its top. After successfully solving the equation and building the tower, without breaking any glasses, they then had to fill it with champagne in order to receive their next clue.
In Terra, the teams had to search a square kilometer of the barren, wintry land for a tiny cluster of grapes which were marked with the Race colors.
Decisions, Decisions. The detectives, who described themselves as "Bulls in a China Shop" chose the search of the barren vinyard. Considering their occupation, they felt this was the choice for them. By performing a "sweep" of the vineyard they were quick to find the prized grapes. Opening their next clue, they learned that they had to drive to the Pit Stop across the city at L’orcca, Champagne, France. The detectives coasted their way to L'orcca. Happy to land on the mat, they were declared the first team and for winning the leg, Phil rewarded the duo with a trip for two from Travelocity to Cancun, Mexico. Another victory! 1. Louie & Michael 2.Carol & Brandy 3.Steve & Allie 4.Jet & Cord 5. Dan & Jordan 6. Brent & Caite 7. Jordan & Jeff Being the last team to arrive, Jordan and Jeff were eliminated.
