AMERICAN IDOL 9 MAY 11 & 12,2010

SONGS FROM THE SILVER SCREEN

Mentor: Jamie Fox
He brought two sets of T-shirts to be awarded to contestants based on whether he felt they were "contestant" or "artist". Each contestant was given one and then we could determine which they were tonight.
1.) Lee DeWyze - Seal's "Kiss From A Rose" Movie: "Batman Forever" Randy lead off saying that he wasn't really very impressed with this performance. He felt that Lee did nothing with the song. Ellen was in total agreement with Randy. Kara said that it is a most difficult song to sing and that it was all over the place but in the end said it was "great". Then came Simon who said that with so many songs to choose from that he could have picked another song. He furthermore said that it was almost karaoke-like. Perhaps you are trying too hard, he said to Lee. He awarded him a "contestant" T-shirt.
2.) Michael Lynche - Michael Jackson's "Will You Be There" Movie: "Free Willy." Randy started out saying "I don't know what's going on tonight" He felt that Mike's performance was "just alright", it didn't really take off. Ellen said that he is consistently good; a little bit predictable. Kara seemed a little disappointed by her comments that she had wanted "goose bumps" but didn't get them. (She knows that he can give them.) She felt he played it safe. Simon told Mike that he could have chosen a better song but felt that he gave it 100% and that he meant what he sang.
3.) Lee and Crystal The first duet, and with their guitars, performed "Falling Slowly" Movie: "Once" Randy literally exclaimed, "What a difference a couple minutes make!" Ellen declared them to be the new Captain and Tenille. Kara declared it to be one of her favorite minutes of the whole season. "I don't know if I would call that a good song," teased Simon, followed by the come back - "I would call it a fantastic song."
4.) Casey James performed Simon and Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson", Movie "The Graduate" Randy quizzed "Why did you chose that song?" Then there were some quips made about Casey perhaps personally relating to it. He went on to say that it was a laid back version and that it sounded "cool". Ellen liked that he came back this week with something different. Kara after making light of being a "Mrs Robinson" said that she felt that Casey was fighting back; a good choice of song. Simon simply said that he didn't feel that it had the substance that it required.
5.) Crystal Bowersox - Kenny Loggins' "I'm Alright" Movie: "Caddyshack" Although Randy said that it was not his favorite he admitted that Crystal is definitely an artist. Ellen said that she just got "crystallized" and complimented her saying that she made the song better. Kara was in total agreement with Ellen What was left to be said? Simon closed the commentary by saying that Crystal was back in the game.
6.) Casey and Mike The second duet. Both with guitar performed "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?" Movie: "Don Juan DeMarco." Randy loved their guitar playing and described the performance it as a "nice one" emphasizing that it was "sultry" and "sexy". Ellen simply said - " Yes, I have." Kara generalized by saying that the duets were incredible. Simon confirmed Kara's feelings about the duet performances by saying that "artist" T-shirts should be given to both duets. I truly believe that they dazzled the audience. They complimented each other's voice; each unique in it's own way. I believe that Mike gave it the mellow tone so well received in a love song.

Well! Now What?
Hopefully you voted. Seems as though there was unlimited calling tonight.

Just take another look.
How can you choose?

Wednesday Night- Eliminations
To keep it short and sweet. We are coming down the homestretch.
Ryan announced that there were almost 37 million votes this week; the highest number of Season 9.
Most of the night was entertainment. First Fantasia Barino the winner from Season 3, followed by Daughtry, with the final entertainer being Bon Jovi.
Ryan worked his way through the elimination process and Michael Lynche was left standing. . . the one eliminated this week.
