DANCING WITH THE STARS 10 EPISODE 2

Part Two, Heading for the First Elimination
March 29, 2010

Tonight's competition scores will be added to those of last week and the combined two-week score will determine who will be eliminated.

Recorded in Order of Performance

Shannen Doherty & Mark Ballas danced the Jive and although there seemed to be some improvements the judges were not thrilled. Shannen was complimented for engaging with the audience. Score: 20 Total: 35/60

Aiden Turner & Edyta Sliwinska performed the Foxtrot. Aiden was acknowledged fro improving his foot work and encouraged to keep focused. Carrie Ann said "nice job" and was happy that the dance flowed throughout. Len was glad to see the improvement in the footwork, thought Aiden demonstrated improvement and said "well done". Score: 19 Total 34/60

Evan Lysacek & Anna Trebunskya did the Jive and met with positive comments, but again reminded Evan to point his feet. They were described as totally in control and making connection with the audience. Score: 24 Total: 47/60

Jake Pavelka & Chelsie Hightower performed the Jive and met with comments such as: "energy and determination is great"; "work on precision and technique"; and "a little heavy, work on it". Carrie Ann Innabe caught the unforgivable - a lift and as a result scored him down on the performance. Score: 20 Total: 40/60

Niecy Nash & Louie Van Amstel performed a well executed Foxtrot and was favorably judged saying she demonstrated musicality. Score: 21 Total: 39/60

Buzz Aldrin & Ashly Costa performed a Foxtrot which was best described as tender and charming and a nice effort. Buzz was described as an inspirational to people, particularly older people. Score: 12 Total: 26/60

Nicole Scherzinger & Derek Hough performed the Jive with lots of vigor. Their performance could be described by each judge using one word each. " sensational" and "perfection" Carrie Ann Innabe said that she felt ambivalent about the dancing. ( Still question in my mind that Nicole should be in the line-up despite her protests that she's a singer, not a dancer. She does a lot of dancing for someone who is not a dancer.) This couple received the first 10's of this season. Score:28 Total: 53/60

Erin Andrews & Maksim Chmerkovsky performed a Foxtrot. Compliments were in line. She was described as natural and having stunning arms movements and does well at linking movements together. Len felt that she was a beautiful lyrical dancer but that she held a death-grip hold on her partner. There was some recognition that she needs to improve her footwork. Score: 23 Total: 44/60

Pamela Anderson & Damian Whitewood danced a Foxtrot and was a recognizable tribute to Marilyn Monroe. Comments included that she is versatile and that the dance was well executed, but recommendations for improvement were also forthcoming; improve posture and footwork. Score: 22 Total: 43/60

Chad Ochocinco & Cheryl Burke danced the Foxtrot. Although the judges feel that he has potential they did not see improvement this week and described the dance as "like a snowstorm, glad when it's over". Score: 16 Total: 34/60

Kate Gosselin & Tony Dovolani performed the Jive, despite a tumultuous week in rehearsal. There seem to be problems in paradise. Her performance was described as "going through the motions" as she was instructed to "perform". Despite the fact that Carrie Ann Innabe told her that her feet came off the floor, constituting a "lift", she got through the routine. It was expressed that her nerves are getting in her way and that "nerves will make or break you". Truthfully, Kate has proven a real disappointment and I feel that there's more trouble ahead. Attitude is a lot in this competition and I don't feel that she has a healthy attitude about this experience. Perhaps this is giving us some real insight as to "troubles for Kate". Score: 15 Total: 31/60

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Len Goodman shared his thoughts of the season which included:

  • Season is "Overall, fantastic"
  • Jake has great potential, he's the one to watch.
  • Niecy is fantastic
  • Ochocinco is very disappointing
  • Kate, you can tell her nerves are getting the best of her.
  • Evan did a great Jive, although he didn't expect it to be good.
  • Nicole is a huge talent, a fantastic dancer.

Len, in costume presented what he called the Ten Commandments of Dance; some of which were: Shall not kill time; Shall not take the Judges' name in vain; Shall not steal dance moves; Shall not interrupt Len; Shall not do lifts; and Shall wear lots of rhinestones.

Nicole and Derek were asked for an encore performance of their Jive.

Throughout the evening, there was entertainment, singing and dancing. The Beach Boys performed several songs with dancers from the professional staff of DWTS dancing. Adam Carolla gave his comedic commentary about the show and professional dancers danced a special choreographed dance by Stacy Walker and Travis Payne.

THE RESULTS

Tom Bergeron revealed those couples who were safe and the two couples in the BOTTOM TWO, based on judges and audience votes. The two couples in the bottom were Pamela Anderson & Damian Whitewood and Shannen Doherty and Mark Ballas. Shannen Doherty was eliminated. It was announced that Mark Ballas had injured his knee and was facing possible surgery.

CELEBRITY APPRENTICE 9 - EPISODE #3

SUNDAY, MARCH 28, 2010
9:00 - 11:00 PM NBC

Donald gives the contestants their next challenge; to create an advertorial consisting of four pages which would serve the bundled companies of Norton 360 and LifeLock. Later it was explained that the advertorial may be used in Time Magazine or on the Internet on Time.com.
At the request of the Company Executives, one member from each team is to be selected as the spokesperson for the advertisement. It is understood that the project will be judges on it's creativity, brand integration, the celebrity spokesperson and overall presentation.
Project Managers were: Tenacity - Summer Rock Solid - Michael As usual, the project manager for the winning team will get $20, 000 for his/her charity.
Each team meets with the executives from Norton 360 and Lifelock for further information about the new bundled service; that is, personal security and security on the Internet.
Tenacity: Cyndi, as usual gets sidetracked and causes some confusion delaying the start of work on the project.
Rock Solid - Despite Bret's continual questioning, Michael is trying to clarify the understanding, for the team, as to what an advertorial is. Interestingly enough, Bret thinks that his questioning was "helping" the team. (We all know "that the road to hell is paved with good intentions".)
Choice of spokesperson: Over at Team Tenacity, there is some disagreement as to who should be selected spokesperson. Maria nominates Cyndi, but Summer selects Sharon Osborne; trying not to hurt Cyndi's feelings about the selection. With this decision made the team is a little divided with Maria feeling that the ultimate decision was a "mistake". Michael, at Rock Solid selects Curtis as the celebrity spokesperson over the objection from Rob who feels that Michael himself should assume that role in the project. Both teams move forward with the feeling of a "mistake" in decision making right from the start.
Other project assignments
Tenacity - Selita (the model) is assigned to be art director for the project over Cyndi's objection based on her own personal experiences. Maria and Cyndi are delegated to get props for the photo shoot. Again a conflict arises since it is felt that Summer is not utilizing Cyndi, showing a disrespect for her. Cyndi and Maria actually work well together with Cyndi's ability to get the props they want at the price they want. The team is having problems getting a clear picture of what their project will look like, and when Don Jr. drops by tries to hide the fact from him by telling him that theirs is still a "work in progress". They continue with their project but by the end of the day there have been so many changes that there was some question as to the look of the final product.
Rock Solid- Bret is tasked with the creative design of the advertorial, starting with a slogan. Rod is designated as the person on the computer which is key to the development of the advertorial. Within a short period of time, there is an awakening to the fact that Rob is really not computer literate. (As a matter of fact, Michael is having a hard time finding anything for Rob to do since he has not demonstrated that he can do much of anything.) With that revelation, Michael assigns Rod to go with Darryl to secure needed props. Work progresses, but not without trials and tribulations. . A major disagreement comes with Rock Solid when team members express that Michael is creating a wordy article that they view as a stumbling block to the success of the project. Michael Gavin stops by to visit Rock Solid, but is not favorably impressed with Michael's leadership in the project. He expresses concerns for the project pretty much in line with Bret's concern.... too much, too much. Wordy, without clear direction.
Both teams presented their project to the executives from both companies and each team left with questionable feelings about their work.
Following the presentations, Donald met with the executives for feedback. They expressed that team Tenacity's lacked education about the product, but that Rock Solid was too verbose. They also felt that Tenacity's had no call to action and had "some problems". They felt that Curtis was not the best selection for Celebrity Spokesperson and expressed that they would have preferred seeing Goldberg as the centerpiece rather than a celebrity chef.
The Boardroom
Each team critiqued it's performance and team members. Summer, of team Tenacity, cited Cyndi as a distraction and was supported by Holly, thus throwing Cyndi under the bus. When it was Michael's turn he revealed that Rob was felt the weakest player since there was little he was able to do. Both teams reviewed the other teams advertorial and critiqued it. Cyndi provided poignant information about Rock Solid's work and was supported by Gavin. Rock Solid defended their work stating that Tenacity's work was an advertisement, not an advertorial and that they had done what had been asked of them.
Winner: Tenacity was declared the winner and $20,000 was given to Summer for her charity - Right To Play.
Norton 360 and Lifelock made an additional donation to the charity.
The Decision: Who will be "fired" as a result of the loss by Rock Solid. Michael took full responsibility for the loss because he was the project manager, but felt that there should have been stronger support/suggestions from team members. He continued to say that Rob was the weakest team member. Bret and Rob both felt that as project manager, Michael should be "fired", but to their surprise Darryl spoke up and said that if Donald felt that someone should be "fired", he should be "fired". Some debate ensued and it became clear that Darryl wanted "out" so Donald "fired" Darryl much to the surprise and disappointment of team members.

THE AMAZING RACE 16 EPISODE 7

Sunday, March 28, 2010

Again the detectives, Michael and Louie left the pit stop first on the next leg of their trip. They were to fly 5,000 miles to the Seychelles, a change islands in the Indian Ocean. To their surprise, all teams would fly together to the destination since it was remote with limited access. Each team chose the way in which they would spend their time waiting for departure. Each team selected their plane seats each with his/her own strategy (or lack there of) for the selection. When they arrived on the island of Mahe, those teams closest to the front of the plane deplaned first, leaving the others behind and thereby getting a head start to search for a kiosk where they would get their next clue which instructed them to take a helicopter to another island, La Dique. The first three teams got to board the first helicopter which would be one hour ahead of the second three teams. (Here, Michael and Louie lost their lead.)
Upon arrival at LaDique the teams opened the next clue and found it to be a Detour. Turtle Toddle or Ox Trot.
DETOUR: Turtle Toddle- required that a giant 100 year old tortoise would have to be lured, using a banana a distance across a lawn, then each team member would have to carry a large bunch of bananas to the fruit merchant at the harbor about one and a half miles away. Those who chose Ox Trot had to load a cart with coconuts wait for the cart to be hitched to an Ox and then drive the cart to the harbor without losing any coconuts. The decision was theirs.
Upon arrival at the harbor, the next clue was given. Now they were to swim out to and take a boat to waters near island, St. Pierre, where the boat captain would give them their next clue. With each team came their individual challenges, or you might say, frustrations. When each team reached St. Pierre, their boat captain presented them with a Roadblock clue.
The Roadblock required that one member of each team would have to dive into the Indian Ocean and locate the bottles submerged and tied together. Once the bottles were located, one had to be untied and brought to the surface where the team would the work together to assemble a map which would lead them on a path to the next pit stop- Praslin. Father, Steve and daughter, Allie were the first team to retrieve the bottle, assemble the map and follow the directions to Phil at the pit stop. This was their first victory. Phil rewarded them with a reward from 7-Up. They were to have dinner and massages, along with $7000 and all the 7-Up they could drink. Two by two, it seemed, the teams arrived at the pit stop. The cowboys,Jet and Cord even had to return to the boat and retrieve their bottle and map because they had gotten to the pit stop without it and it was a required part of the task .This put them in last place, but to their surprise Phil informed them that this was a non-elimination leg of the race.
Order of Finish
1. Steve and Allie
2. Dan and Jordan
3. Brent and Caite
4. Michael and Louie
5. Carol and Brandy
6. Jet and Cord

SURVIVOR- HEROES vs VILLAINS-DAY 14

THE IMPORTANCE OF BANANA ETIQUETTE
Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Night 14 opens at the Villains' camp with Rob and Russell in conversation whereby Rob is trying to convince Russell that he is not against him but told him to watch his back. Meanwhile back in the Heroes' camp, Colby is reflecting on his standing in the tribe - odd man out- now that Tom has been voted off. James was being given a talk about how he was not being fair with his tribe mates because he was eating the majority of the banana. Together they discussed appropriate behavior in those regards. Throughout, James was professing the rules of etiquette regarding bananas.
The next day tree mail was received in the camps and was vague but indicates that the competition will be for individual immunity, not the customary tribal immunity. When Jeff's summons them for competition they realize that each tribe will play for one person to win an immunity idol and that at the next elimination ceremony there will be one person from each tribe eliminated. This one competition serves not only to determine which member of each tribe gets the immunity idol but a show down to see which tribe is the overall winner and gets a treat of hot dogs/buns and sodas while they watch the other tribe's council meeting. The competition involved being attached to a rope and working through a maze to untangle themselves. Winners: Heroes - Candice, Villains - Rob.
The Show Down Winner was "Boston" Rob.

Back in the camps all were scurrying to determine who would be voted off at the next council meeting. In the Heroes' camp Colby tells everyone that he believes he'll be going. He tells the others to enjoy the day and that they shouldn't give out any information to the other tribe. James feels that Colby is giving up. Others go about discussion James, in light of his leg injury. The Villains had more work to do to make the determination of the tribe member to be sent home. The perceived plan was to eliminate Parvati while telling Russell that he's the one going so that they can flush out his idol, found in the camp. Russell, in his wisdom, believes it will be Parvati so he plans to give her his idol in order to save her since they are allies. He talks with Tyson regarding his vote since he figures he has a key vote in the success of the night's elimination. Meanwhile Rob is strategizing so that it will be either Russell or Parvati.

Tribal Council
The Villains - Jeff raised the question- " How has the game changed?", to the Villains. Replies included: it was "game-on" right-away, and the hidden individual immunity idols. The vote was taken and prior to the reading of the votes, Russell gave his immunity idol to Parvati. The vote proved very interesting - Parvati had the greatest number of votes, Tyson second greatest and Russell the least. Because of Parvati's immunity idol, she was saved and that left Tyson to be eliminated. Gosh- imagine that.... Russell "wins again".

The Heroes - When Jeff met with the Heroes, The Villains enjoyed their food reward and listened to discussion, but were dismissed just before the vote was taken. In discussion with members of the Heroes, Rupert said that the line between the Heroes and Villains is blurred. Colby admitted that he has not performed well and James offered that the tribe is made up of "doers" and "sayers". It is doubtful that the Villains learned much, if anything about their opponents. After the Villains left the council meeting, the vote was taken and Colby and James received the votes, with James being eliminated.

SURVIVOR- HEROES vs VILLAINS- DAY 16

BATTLE OF THE STRATEGISTS

April 1, 2010
Day 16 and All Is Well ! Or, is it?

The Villains - With members of the Villains still somewhat taken back by the events at the last tribal council, there is much discussion as to what is happening, who is in and who is out! Rob, in particular was shocked at the fact that Russell would maneuver Tyson's elimination despite the fact that he and his alliance was still the minority. How he managed to save himself, save Parvati and eliminate a least expecting, Tyson. INCREDIBLE. Rob was wondering if the joke was on him! PERHAPS, PERHAPS, we shall see. Russell and Danielle, in their discussion, took Jerri into their confidences with thoughts of getting her alliance, thus strengthening their power. Russell's show of support to a tribe member impressed Jerri and thereby gained the respect of another tribal member. The Heroes - Back at camp they were discussing their need to stay strong. Colby said it was now time to "put up or shut up"
Jeff called both tribes for the Reward Challenge which involved a water-logged basketball challenge. They were battling for a trip to a waterfall with a spread of meat, fish and fresh fruit. Using only one ball, between the two tribes, the first team to score three baskets would be declared the winners. The tribes were split into male and female teams (3 each). The Heroes were victorious - 3 to 0 BIG WIN!
While the Heroes were enjoying their food reward, Candice discovered a note saying that there was another immunity idol at camp. Among the tribe members, it was decided that they should look for and find it as a tribe. WRONG?
Meanwhile, back at the Villains' camp , Russell was up to his usual.... strategizing . . . telling Jerri and Coach that he wanted the three of them to go to the finals. Jerri was drawn in immediately because she did not really trust Rob, but Coach was not sure he wanted to buy-in. He felt he was left without a real choice since Jerri had really committed him without first discussing it with him. Jerri convinced Coach that he should go with it because he saw that they should align themselves with someone who is determined to win and she didn't feel that Coach really had that same determination.
Immunity Challenge Jeff summoned the tribes together for the Immunity Challenge to determine which tribe would go to Tribal Council for an elimination. The tribes faced off in a obstacle course in which they had to collect puzzle pieces. The first tribe to collect all of the pieces and assemble the puzzle would win Immunity. Despite their lead, the Villains lost the challenge and were doomed to Tribal Council.
Back at the Villains' camp "strategy reigned supreme". Russell said that Rob wanted to keep his alliance strong. Coach and Rob discussed potential votes and Coach said that he felt that Courtney should go because she is a weak player and that they needed to focus on maintaining a strong tribe. Rob wanted Russell voted off. Russell, in his discussions with Rob had targeted Sandra or Courtney. Strategy ran wild.... Later, Russell along with his alliance of Danielle, Parvati, and Jerri set out to get Coach on their side to enable them to blindside "Boston" Rob. Although Coach still had trust issues regarding Russell, he bought into the plan. By all appearances, the plan was in place! Rob, in his wisdom saw the handwriting on the wall and appealed to Jerri, saying she was a smart girl and knew what to do.
Tribal Council
Jeff posed the question: Is this tribe in trouble? Different tribal members spoke up and gave a clear indication that this is a tribe divided. Members were becoming paranoid about the alliances and that tonight's vote would see multiple votes. Could they get a majority, to enable a clear elimination? Rob expressed that the votes would bring this tribe together. Hmm Interesting! Before dismissing the members for their vote, Jeff said "this is a turning point for this tribe". The Vote: Courtney- 1, Russell - 3, Rob -4 Thus, Boston Rob Mariano was voted off.

Good-bye Rob. You will be missed.

AMERICAN IDOL 9 - WEEK #5

~ THE STAKES ARE HIGH TONIGHT~
March 23, 2010
8:00 - 10:00 PM - FOX

Ryan announced that tonight's performances are perhaps the most important performances thus far in the competition. This week will determine the Idols for the Idol Tour.

The music theme for tonight was Top 100 Billboard. The music mentor is Miley Cyrus.
Each contestant was shown at their rehearsal with Miley Cyrus and she gave each a few words of encouragement.

#1 Lee DeWyze - performed The Letter by the Box Tops. He was accompanied by a brass quintet and three back-up singers. Randy commented that his performance was a soul and blues version and he felt that Lee had knocked it out of the box. Ellen said "fantastic" while Kara expressed that he had raised the bar; had owned the stage and has shown tremendous progress. Simon was surprised at the song choice and felt that it was "corny" and not defining him.

#2 Paige Miles sang the 1084 Phil Collins' song Against All Odds. She was met with negative remarks, for the most part. Randy said it was "terrible, pitchie and all over the place. Ellen felt that Paige looked good but she'd pass on to Kara for comments about the performance. Kara felt that Paige has stopped competing and has stopped taking advice. Simon said he struggled with the pitch. It was as if there were 5 "yous" singing and it got worse as it went along.
#3 Tim Urban performed Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Randy felt that the vocals were boring and he did not like Tim's slide across the stage. Ellen felt as if it was a high school audition and ended by adding " I just didn't get it" Kara advised him that he has a lot of work to do despite the fact that she felt that he had acted like he was already there. Simon expounded on his "just singing and dancing", telling him that he is NOT a winner. Furthermore, this was the second week with a "silly" song choice.

#4 Aaron Kelly performed I Don't Want to Miss A Thing an Arrow Smith song. Randy thought it was high pitched and wasn't perfect but was good, stating "I'm a fan". Kara complimented him as having the best song choice of the night thus far. She said that it wasn't perfect and that he needs to develop his stage presence. Simon admonished him for making himself "old" fashioned but at the same time said that he has zero change of going home this week.

#5 Crystal Bowersox performed the Janice Joplin - Me and Bobby McGee. Randy with delight in his voice exclaimed " That's what it's all about" Ellen simply commented - "Amazing voice". Kara was glad to see Crystal smile and questioned: What can you do without the guitar to which Crystal responded... I told you there was a surprise coming next week. Simon told her that she shouldn't change anything and that he had seen her progress.

#6 Michael Lynche, with back up of string quartet and piano performed When A Man Loves A Woman. Randy commented that it was not the best vocal and perhaps it was the song but that "you know who you are". Kara said that the performance was technically good but boring and "loungie". Simon, referring to his back-up, felt that it was almost too much- a piano would have been plenty. Complimented him on his good voice and charisma.

#7 Andrew Garcia performed Heard It From The Grapevine a Marvin Gay song. He had three back-up singers and two guitar players; leaving his own guitar behind. Randy and Ellen felt that it was not a good song choice and that in general the performance was not good. Kara and Simon seemed to have the same concerns for his performance. Kara said " I don't know what to do while Simon said maybe he had been overrated. Furthermore, Simon felt that the arrangement was "horrendous" and that "You don't know who you are as an artist".

#8 Katie Stevens performed a Fergie song Big Girls Don't Cry. Randy said it was sharp, pitchie but that he liked her clothes and that she had picked a "younger" song. Ellen said that it was the best performance thus far in the night.Kara said that she is experiencing pitch issues but that she saw her as a pop singer with rhythm and blues leanings. Simon said that he thought that Katie's meeting Miley Cyrus was a good thing for Katie. As for her performance he questions the believability and that she is "not in her head "as to where she is.

#9 Casey James - backed-up by a brass quintet and guitars performed The Power of Love. Randy complimented him stating that he is probably the best musician but was not sure that it was the best song choice. Ellen said that she was not too fond of his song choice but that she felt he was the best vocal of the night. Kara offered" it's all there, you are in the zone now". Simon felt that it was too old fashioned

#10 Didi Benami sang You're No Good, a Linda Rhondstad song and was accompanied by a big bass and guitar. Randy loved the idea of it but thought it was pitchie all over the place. Ellen had concerns for the song choice while Kara felt like Didi was playing a character and that it was not like her. Simon said "What an irony" Furthermore he said that she was not good... didn't sound "like you" and that the song "sucked the life" out of her.

#11 Siobhan Magnus performed the 1972 Stevie Wonder song Superstition. Randy said he was excited to see her and loved her song and her conviction to the performance. Ellen simple said "more please" while Kara told her that she expressed herself but it was not her best. Simon said that she would probably have split votes and that she needs to start pushing herself and that he was concerned for her "screaming at the end".

TUNE IN WEDNESDAY FOR THE ELIMINATION

WHO DO YOU THINK SHOULD BE ELIMINATED? WHY?

WEDNESDAY NIGHT RESULTS: - PAIGE MILES was eliminated.

DANCING WITH THE STARS 10-EPISODE #1

AND IN THE BEGINNING!

ABC - Monday, March 22, 2010 8:00-10:00 PM

New Season, New Co-host, New "Stars".

Tom Bergeron introduced his new co-host, Brooke Burke, former DWTS Champion (7), followed by the judges, returning again this year : Carrie Ann Inabe, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli. Tom Bergeron shared with the audience that this season the contestants would be in "the aquarium"... which was a glass room behind the audience and not back stage as in past seasons.

The contestants were to dance either the Cha-Cha or the Viennese Waltz. Of course, the costumes would be as provocative as always, the women beautiful as always and the men handsome with loads of personality.

BREAKDOWN OF PERFORMANCES
(In the order they danced)

#1 Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke - Cha Cha. Best described as a "diamond in the rough" Score 18 points

#2 Shannon Dougherty and Mark Ballas - Viennese Waltz - Impressed the judges with the difficulty of the choreography, her ease and elegance but that she flailed her arms like a "primate". Score 18 points

#3 Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovsky - Cha Cha Complimented Erin on some good moves, but offered advice that she needs to improve the arm movements and leg work. Looked a little like "a funky monkey".
Score 21 points.
#4 Jake Palvelka and Chelsie Hightower - Viennese Waltz. Complimented Jake on his posture and movement and that he led well. Generally impressed. Score 20 points
#5 Niecy Nash and Louis Van Amstel - Cha Cha Complimented Neicy saying that her energy is fantastic, went wrong in a few places, but that the performance was clean, clear and concise. Score 18 points

#6 Evan Lycacek and Anna Trebunskaya - Viennese Waltz. Complimented on his gorgeous line but that he needs to point his toes as opposed to the way he does in skates. Felt he demonstrated great artistry with the grace of a swan. Their advice to him was that he needs to connect with the audience more. Score 23 points

#7 Buzz Aldrin and Ashly Costa - Cha Cha - Buzz was commended for his bravery and that he is an inspiration to older people. (Buss is 80) Score 14 points

#8 Nicole Sherzinger and Derek Hough - Viennese Waltz - The judges were astounded despite the fact that it lacked musicality and there was no foot work. Score 25 points

#9 Aiden Turner and Edyta Sliwinska - Cha Cha - Judges felt that is was stiff and disjointed and didn't go anywhere and full of everything "I don't like" Score 15 points

#10 Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani - Viennese Waltz - Judges felt she was very nervous and that her technique was terrible. Kate has a long was to go. Performance was described as "Tony was pushing a shopping cart" Score 16 points

#11 Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood Cha Cha - Most outstanding comment was "sex, sex, and more sex" Felt that she was having fun and was engaged in the dancing. It was felt to be, however, messy and off time.
Score 21 points

Although the audience is encouraged to vote for the contestants this week, there will NOT be an elimination this week. The votes will be added into next week's along with the contestant's points from both weeks.

WHAT DID YOU THINK...WHO DO YOU THINK WILL EMERGE VICTORIOUS ?

I was surprised at the scoring of 25 for Nicole Sherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls because despite the fact that she makes a career of music and dance her performance was NOT worthy of a 25.

THE AMAZING RACE 16 EPISODE 6

CATHY DRONE ? (France)
Each team waited turn to start off on this leg of the journey. The detectives, Louie and Michael, having won the third leg of the race were the first team to leave for Reims, France- 37 miles away. There they had to locate the Reims gothic cathedral, where they were to find a statue of Joan of Arc. They needed to locate a musician in front of the statue playing a singing saw. Once found, they would receive their next clue. Playing their strategy, they parked their car and walked, making a stop at the office of tourism for directions to the cathedral. This was a mistake- it allowed Steve &Allie, father and daughter, to get ahead of them. In their quest they had solicited directions from someone on the street, thus gaining on the detectives. After the musician finished playing, she gave Steve the next clue which was a bottle cork with the inscription "Leclerc Briant". Again trusting in the locals, they found out that they needed to go to Epernay. They were to lose their lead on this journey since Allie had difficulty reading the map. By the time they reached Epernay, Louie & Michael and brothers, Dan & Jordan, who had caravanned there together successfully. Mean while, the cowboys Jet & Cord, got off to a bad start by going the wrong direction, consequently going to wrong city. This cost them a drop from second to fifth place, at this point.
Once in Epernay and in 1st and 2nd places, the detectives and brothers eagerly opened their clues to find a Roadblock.
The Roadblock: one team member of each team had to rappel over 100-feet down into the aging caverns of the winery. Once there, they searched the caves filled with champagne bottles for one that was specially marked. In a tradition established by Napoleon’s army officers, they celebrated their victory using a saber to slice the cork off the bottle. With success of slicing the cork off of the bottle, the pressure caused the champagne to shoot out ejecting their next clue which read: Taittinger La Marquetterie. They had the clue but now had to figure out what and where this was. It was discovered to be a chateau and vineyard in the nearby village of Pierry.
The trip between Epernay and Pierry was not without difficulties for some of the leading teams. Not the detectives, though. Detectives Louie & Michael arrived at Taittinger La Marquetterie in first place to find a Detou.

The Detour with the choice of Tower or Terra.
In Tower, teams had to use all of the 680 champagne glasses to build a tower 15 levels high with only one glass at its top. After successfully solving the equation and building the tower, without breaking any glasses, they then had to fill it with champagne in order to receive their next clue.
In Terra, the teams had to search a square kilometer of the barren, wintry land for a tiny cluster of grapes which were marked with the Race colors.
Decisions, Decisions. The detectives, who described themselves as "Bulls in a China Shop" chose the search of the barren vinyard. Considering their occupation, they felt this was the choice for them. CELEBRITY APPRENTICE 9 EPISODE # 2

SHARE THE MOMENT
Donald met with the teams reviewing the results of the Diner competition. He shared with Team Tenacity that they need to be more competitive. He then presented their next task.

Store Front for Kodak. They were to create, capture and share a Kodak moment. They would be judged on originality, re branding of Kodak and the overall experience. The winning team would win $20,000 for the Project Manager's charity.
Project Managers : SOLID ROCK - Sinbad, TENACITY - Marie.
Donald dismissed them by saying that it is vision vs execution that will yield the winner.
THE WORK BEGINS
Executives from Kodak met with each team and shared some concepts about Kodak philosophy/business and gave products to be used in the Store Front the next day.
They left the teams saying " The real Kodak moment comes when you share"
Each team met for some strategic planning preparing for the event to be held the next day.

SOLID ROCK decided that they would build their Store Front around the statement "Capture the Moment, Now Share It. " As celebrities each would establish a station within the store to pose with customers for picture taking. The team went out into New York City and took random pictures of people and arranged to have a mural made to decorate the walls of the store. Rob helped with the decorations by seeking out and purchasing gold balloons to decorate in Kodak colors. At first it seemed as though confusion reigned since some members of the team felt there was little direction. Bret Michaels became quite frustrated because despite his efforts to find out what he was to do, he was being ignored by Sinbad. He withdrew from the some of the preparation in order to avoid becoming confrontational. Rob and Sinbad would be taking the photo's and customers would be given cards providing them with information as to how to obtain their picture - by going to the Kodak site on the Internet.

TENACITY acted on the suggestion from Cyndi Lauper - "Celebrate the Champion in You". Sharon, who was not feeling well had to go back to her room with hopes that she would be well enough to be present the next day. This put their team down by two since Carol had been "fired" last week. Marie arranged to incorporate her charity, Make A Wish Foundation, into the theme and had children come to the store for photo's which were used as part of the decorations in the store. They planned a red carpet and a boxing ring where customers could stand with their choice of championship belt and have their photo taken. They were printing pictures out- using Kodak equipment(of course). Summer was manning the display table of Kodak products and introduced customers to the products. Despite the originality and organization by the team there were unforeseen problems - electrical power being cut-off numerous times while they were open for business.
Both teams were visited by Kodak executives and shadow customers who gave their reports to Donald Trump so he could prepare for the Board Room Meeting. Their report would include: For SOLID ROCK- They liked the use of celebrities to draw in the crowd and provide for memorable moment pictures, but they did not like the fact that although the Kodak products were on display on a table there was no one to promote them and therefore they felt that their store front was less effective from a business standpoint. They also made note that two of their "shadow customers" did not receive the instruction cards as to how to obtain the photo's that were taken of them. Their visit to TENACITY left them with more positive feelings and they complimented their organization and their use of imagination and were especially happy to see that Summer was doing an excellent job manning the product display.

BOARD ROOM
Donald, Donald Jr. and Ivanka met with both teams and discussed each team's project presentation. Pictures from each team's work was presented so that each team shared what they had done with the other team. Each team was asked about how well they had worked together and what they thought their degree of success was. TENACITY seemed pleased with the work they had done and felt that their day was successful, meeting the goals set for them by Kodak. From the observation reports, TENACITY was declared the winner

SOLID ROCK - there was some difficulty getting started. Bret admitted to losing a little of his focus. Michael felt that he experienced some frustration because of a feeling of not knowing what was going on. There appeared to be a consensus that Sinbad, although having good ideas and an ability to pull it off could only be considered an average leader. Rob was asked why he did not assume the Project Manager position and he replied that although he is an experienced leader that Sinbad had more expertise when it came to technical aspects of photography and all that goes along with it. Sinbad was asked to say who he would bring back into the Board Room for the final decision as to who should be "fired". Rob and Bret were selected to return along with Sinbad.
In the final decision it was Sinbad who was "fired", especially in light of the fact that he was the Project Manager and they had lost.

AMERICAN IDOL 9 - WEEK #04

Tuesday, March 16, 2010
The theme for the evening was The Rolling Stones.

Getting down to the business of the evening, Ryan Seacrest, after introducing and welcoming the judges, forged ahead with personal introductions which included glimpses into the lives of each contestant followed by their performance of the evening.

Michael Lynche sang Miss You. Randy said that at first he wasn't really sure about how he felt about the performance. The vocals were good but he wasn't sure about the arrangement. Ellen gave an enthusiastic "that's the way to start the night", while Kara liked his style and swagger. Simon seemed pleased that he got his confidence up even though he did not like the dancing. His final comment was a little disheartening when he said that overall the performance was "a tiny bit desperate".
Didi Benami sang Play With Fire Randy said that she was on fire and that it was one of her best performances. Despite the fact that Ellen felt that she had lost her way but got right back, she said it was "great". Kara felt that Didi pushed on the vocals and that the song got dark but that she had made two steps forward. Simon was pretty much in agreement, stating that Didi was showing the type of artist she wanted to be. His final analysis was that it was a solid performance but not brilliant.
Casey James, with guitar in hands, performed It's All Over Now. Randy loved it and said that he was back. Ellen said simply "fantastic", while Kara told him that he was a rock star even though she wasn't fond of his blues/soul rendition. Simon, bless him, said he felt it was like an audition performance and that he needs to "push" himself. He advised him that he needs to do more than stand center stage and sing. His closing remark - "Just be a star".
Lacey Brown accompanied by a string quartet, performed Ruby Tuesday and was greeted by Randy with his commentary that she was the most interesting one of the night- so far. Ellen expressed that it was "a bit sleepy for me" while Kara said it was 50/50 for her. She identified Lacey's problems with some of the notes but that she did like the drama. Simon equated her to an actress. The song was okay but that she needs to stop over thinking. (Lacey had recognized that in her performance this evening and wasn't sure why she did it.)
Andrew Garcia sang Give Me Shelter and was glad, I'm sure, to hear Randy say that he loved the song, but as equally disappointed to hear that it was "pitchy" and "everywhere". Ellen's retort, looking at Randy, was "What do I know, I think it was your best yet". The connection bothered Kara and Simon felt it was somewhere in the middle; something didn't quite click.
Katie Stevens' Wild Horses made for a strong performance, according to Randy. He described it as a "great song" and that Katie "sang it well". Ellen sensed that Katie had a little bit of a rough start but that once she got into it she did fine. Kara, in her mentoring way told her that she is never technically perfect but that she was better than last week. Simon felt that the song was a strong choice and that she had connected in the second half of the arrangement.
Tim Urban, accompanying himself on the guitar, performed Under My Thumb. Randy just didn't get it. What didn't he get ? The Folksy-Reggae version on the song. He just didn't like it. Ellen said that it had a cool take-off and that it didn't wow her while Kara applauded Tim for doing something incredibly different. Simon too applauded him for doing something different but said that it didn't work and furthermore it was a "crazy" decision.
Siobhan Magnus sang Paint It Black. Randy was glad to see her bringing drama to American Idol, Season 9. Ellen loved it and loved her look. Kara felt it was the best interpretation of the song. She added that she had a flash back to Adam Lambert because of the drama Incorporated in the performance. Kudos came from Simon when he said it was the "standout performance of the night".
Lee DeWyze on his guitar performed Beast of Burden. While Randy said that it was one of his better performances, Ellen expected a tiny bit more from him. Kara added that he is growing more than anyone else. Simon said that he liked Lee but feels that his personality holds him back. He felt that Lee had picked a safe song and closed by saying that Lee has an incredibly good voice and that he "needs to stop thinking that other people are better than you".
Paige Miles performed Honky Tonk Woman which was not received too favorably. There were vocal difficulties throughout the performance which could be, in part, explained by the fact that Paige is suffering with laryngitis. Randy told her that she pulled it out but that there could have been more energy. Ellen recognized her voice problems but credited her with "sounded good". Kara thought that she hit those notes despite the fact that she got a little lost at times. Simon thought that the song was a bit generic and that Paige had not quite connected.
Aaron Kelly sang a great sounding rendition of Angie and was received warmly by Randy saying that it was a tender moment. Ellen complemented him on the song choice. Kara told Aaron that he had shown her . . . after having "beaten him up last week". Simon said that Aaron was 100% right in song choice and that he sang the song within the limits of his vocals. Tonight's performance was one of his strongest.
Crystal Bowersox, with her guitar, of course performed You Can't Always Get What You Want. Randy felt that it was not her best but that he loved her. Ellen said that she sings with ease and that it seems effortless and showed added personality. Kara said that she felt that Crystal is so comfortable on stage and that tonight she loosened up. Simon said that she came on tonight 100% the clear favorite but that he felt that for the first time she was beaten by someone. He expressed concern that perhaps she had too much confidence in "winning". Crystal expressed that she did not feel that way.
Who do you think will be eliminated tomorrow night?
DID YOU VOTE HER OFF?
Wednesday's Show:
Ryan Seacrest called the contestants up and addressed each one reflecting on comments made by the judges on Tuesday and then informed them whether they were one of the bottom three after which he revealed the person receiving the lowest number of votes.
The Bottom Three:
Paige Miles, Tim Urban and Lacey Brown.
(see above for details of their Tuesday Night performance)
Lacey Brown Voted Off
She was given a chance to perform again tonight so that the judges could determine whether or not they wanted to use their one-time "save". The unanimous decision was to let her go.
SURPRISED? I was!

20/20 - INSIDE THE STORIES BEHIND THE LAST ROSE

THE TRUTH REVEALED
ABC's 20/20 set out to present some realities about this popular reality show.
The first Bachelor show followed close behind the show entitled, Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire, in 2002. Do you remember that one? I do. I also remember my thoughts about it, too. "Crazy", "Crazy" I thought. Then came the Bachelor shortly to be followed by the Bachelorette. The Bachelor was created by Mike Fleiss and is as popular today as it was at it's inception. The show was "addictified" and has fostered catch-phrases and generated parodies seen on other shows.
Guests on 20/2o described it as a soap opera type except that it's real, not fiction and like a game show.

How is the cast determined? Auditions, for both the bachelor/bachelorette and the 25 partner-potentials. We are familiar with what seems to have become traditional - a rejected contestant becomes the bachelor/bachelorette. The reason that happens is because the person is the fan's favorite and the producer's first choice. i.e. Jake Pavelka, of Season 14 was selected for his apparent sincerity. Sometimes a person may be selected as a cast member because of some "negative" which can be used to enhance the show. To add to the drama, fan attraction, etc.
What types of people are selected for the show? The Alpha Male, the Drama Queen, The Mother, The shy One, The Weeper, The Whisperer, and The Career Opportunist or any other "type" that will attract a following. Let's just say, the "personality".
What is the process for selected "cast" members? The submission of video tape for review and selection as potential "cast". Then submit to personal interviews. HIV testing- for obvious legal reasons. Make-over, as deemed necessary to make for the best presentation. i.e. Up to as much as $20,000 in dental/orthodontal treatment. (soooo, what you see is NOT what they got! THEY make what you/we see.) Then there is wardrobe, etc. to prepare the cast for the lavish life-style they will be portraying.

CELEBRITY APPRENTICE - EPISODE # 1

AND IN THE BEGINNING!
Sunday, March 14, 2010
NBC- 9:00 - 11:00 PM

The big "D" meets the contestants at the train station and the "music" begins. The expressed goal for these people is to give back to charity.
Teams as pre-determined were to be men versus women. Their first assignment was to determine team names.
Team Names: Women - TENACITY Men - SOLID ROCK.
Team leader selection was not made within the team but rather by the opposite team.
Team Leaders: TENACITY - Cyndi Lauper, SOLID ROCK - Bret Michaels.
FIRST TASK
To run a diner with the winner being determined by tips and numbers.
All monies from both teams go to the winning team.

TheRestaurant Locations:
Burger Heaven - TENACITY : 67th Street and Lexington Avenue, New Yor
Burger Heaven - ROCK SOLID : 53rd Street and Madison Avenue, New York
Business Strategy
TENACITY: Greater number of customers rather than higher menu costs.
Provide a $100.00 burger for those people who want to make a larger charitable donation.
SOLID ROCK: Higher price point, thereby greater money with fewer customers.

Let the Work Begin
After each team decided on it's strategic plan they visited the restaurant site and immediately began the food prep work so that they would be ready for the 11:00 AM service time the following day. In addition, work assignments and team member solicitations for donor-customers were initiated. The men set out to call all the important and influential people of New York. Darryl Strawberry was looked up to for soliciting the most charitable customers since he lives in New York and has a lot of contacts. Chef Curtis was in charge of the diner. As the women made their contacts it became evident that Cyndi Lauper was frustrated and concerned for her potential celebrity participants and focused on Rosie O'Donnell, who she saw as a key contributor, but would not participate because of her strained relationship with Donald Trump. Each team member set out to complete his/her designated task in preparation for the Diner opening the next day.

THE BIG DAY !
TENACITY activity: Each team member had assumed a role within the diner but it appeared as though chaos ruled. At one point, Sharon described the scene as a "Star Wars" bar. The crowd was large, with people lined up around the corner waiting to get in. Despite the somewhat chaotic scene every team member was working hard. In question however, was Holly. She was the accountant but did nothing "physical" that is, unless you consider routing customers out to enable bigger donor patrons to get into the diner, doing something. She appeared to be somewhat bossy and frustrated, at least to me. When Joan Rivers and her male guest came into the diner, they were well received and she seemed impressed with the service and the food and felt that the prices were fair, especially liking the $100.00 burger for those people wanting to give more to charity.
Meanwhile, THE SOLID ROCKS were busy in their diner. At first, business was slow and cause for concern. The customers came and with them came the money. Things looked to be going well.... well! at least until Joan and friend arrived. They were greeted, seated and their order was taken by Rob. Things seemed to go down hill from there. When their food was finally presented to them, by Rob who had gotten involved with conversation with other customers and focusing more of presenting his side of innocence concerning his political dilemma than food service, it was cold. Needless to say that changed the perception of everything going on in the diner. Her assessment was that the service was too slow, the prices were "outrages" and the food was cold.
Unbeknown to both teams, Joan was a plant who would report back to Donald as to her take on both diners. Donald Jr. had also visited both diners and was received differently. Cyndi, as Team Leader was busy and didn't have time to talk with him but he saw Wall Street guys as customers, using that as an indication of business. His visit with the Solid Rock, Team Leader, Bret Michaels was quite different. He was given time as well as being impressed that the men were working together well, and that there was more organization. That too left an impression that would be carried back to the Board Room.
BACK IN THE BOARD ROOM
Discussion centered around how well the teams worked together and the profits, including tips. TENACITY team members went first and related that there was a feeling that they worked well together and that there was NO weak person. They gave the impression that they were pleased with the monetary outcome; $29,599.00 + $10,000 from Joan- as her favorite team.
SOLID ROCK seemed quite pleased with the work and the outcome although Bret expressed that he felt that he was the weakest team member despite the fact that he was the leader. The total monies raised was raised to $100,00.00
Donald then revealed that Joan Rivers, in her report back to him liked TENACITY and felt that Rob's poor service was the main reason she couldn't choose ROCK SOLID. Because of the superior profit made by ROCK SOLID, they were declared the winning team this week and they were dismissed to be able to observe via video the actions in the Board Room with the losing team.
AND IN THE END
Donald was left to meet with the ladies of TENACITY in order to determine who would be eliminated as a result of the loss. Discussion ensued as to possible reasons why they were not as successful and explore who as a result of a weak performance should be "FIRED". Cyndi expressed that she felt because Rosie O'Donnell wouldn't participate there was a significant impact on the end results. Holly expressed concern for the fact that big donors did not get into the restaurant that big money was missed. She felt that it was in part because it was Carol's job to give out fliers and get the crowd and she felt that Carol didn't do her job. Ivanka stated that she felt that a major issue was the menu pricing and Cyndi spoke up and assumed responsibility for that since she was the team leader. When asked who should be fired, no one seems to know who. Maria stepped up and said that she felt that it should be Carol because she doesn't know how much money was coming in. Carol volunteered that Holly did nothing to dirty her hands thereby indicating a lack of work. Sharon felt that Carol was too low key and has no team spirit. Summer concluded that she felt it was between Carol and Cyndi. Because Cyndi could not make a decision as to which two other team members she should bring back into the Board Room for the final decision, Donald announced that he would pick from the entire group. He said that since most of the members indicated that Carol was the weak link, he said "Carol, You're Fired". Carol, quick to think, approached Donald about making a donation to her charity since that is why they are there. He relented and gave $10,000 to be donated to the North Shore Animal League.
AND SO BE IT . . . . . . . . . . The TENACITY team was dismissed.
